Welcome to Jester's Trek.
I'm your host, Jester. I've been an EVE Online player for about six years. One of my four mains is Ripard Teg, pictured at left. Sadly, I've succumbed to "bittervet" disease, but I'm wandering the New Eden landscape (and from time to time, the MMO landscape) in search of a cure.

Guide: Global Agenda emotes

One of the amusing things about Global Agenda is all of the animated emotes that are included in the game.  These are little "slash commands" that can be entered into the GA chat window that have various effects.  Some of them are serious and intended to provide quicker access to items that are accessible in other ways via the user interface.  Others, though, cause your avatar to express sarcastic little emotions or put on short animated shows, visible both to yourself and to other players.

Here's a list of the "slash commands" that I've discovered in GA so far.  First, the serious ones:

Commands to change where you're chatting:
/w  Sends a direct message (whisper) to another player
/r  Replies to the last person that whispered you
/t  Sends a message to your team (if active)
/c  Sends a message to the city (if in the city)
/tr  Sends a message to the trade channel
/lfg  Sends a message to the looking for group channel
/a  Sends a message to your agency
/al  Sends a message to your alliance
/m  Sends a message to everyone in your map (instance)

Commands that access useful interface functions:
/disconnect  Takes you back to the login screen
/invite  Invites a player to your team
/leave  Leaves your current team
/quit  Quits the game
/suicide  Used when stuck in an environment obstacle
/whoas  Provides a list of who from your alliance is logged in

Commands that are useful for debugging purposes:
/mapname  Displays the name of the current map
/loc  Displays your location on the current map
/setres  Sets the screen resolution, i.e.: "/setres 1920x1200 b"
/stat fps  Activates a window displaying current FPS stats (F2)
/stat net  Activates a window displaying current network stats

And here are the ones that are a bit more frivolous. Some of these commands are only available to specific classes or genders. Others have different effects depending on the class or gender that you are playing when you enter them. Amusingly, if you're playing a Robotics character, the robotic arm on your shoulder sometimes has unique motions that support the sentiment being expressed by the emote.

Commands that cause your avatar to express a short emotion or statement:
/applause  Reaction to applause rather than clapping
/agree  Separate male/female versions
/bow  Separate male/female versions
/celebrate
/comehere
/cry  Separate male/female versions
/disagree  Separate male/female versions
/facepalm
/laugh  Separate male/female versions
/lewdgesture  Beloved in New Jersey; separate male/female versions
/roar  Looks more like a yawn to me
/salute
/taunt  Separate male/female versions (female is better)
/wave  Separate male/female versions

Commands that cause your avatar to do a little victory dance:
/chickendanceArrested Development; separate male/female versions
/dance
/hoedown
/jig  Separate male/female versions
/moonwalk
/robodance
/touchdown  Separate male/female versions (male is better)

Commands that cause your avatar to copy a well-known reference:
/amigo  Three Amigos reference
/karatekid  Original Karate Kid reference
/heisman  Pose from the Heisman Trophy
/kong  Original King Kong reference
/rdsalute  Red Dwarf reference
/rummy  Captain Morgan rum reference
/sbsalute  Space Balls reference

Commands that cause your avatar to do something a little strange ;-) :
/airguitar  Separate male/female versions
/flex  Separate male/female versions
/handstand  Separate male/female versions (male is better)
/psycho  General self-inflicted pain (reference?)
/rumpshaka  Separate male/female versions (female is better)
/shadowbox
/spit  Not sure what this is supposed to be...

Commands that I'm still experimenting with:
/search
/yell
/startle
/talk
/lookaround
/laugh2
/laugh3
/radio
/radioshort
/road

I'll keep this post updated as I learn more. ;-)

I've found a few videos here and there of some of these emotes, for those not playing GA or not interested in it.  Here are 19 of the basic emotes, and here are 16 more from the same video producer.  This video is quite a bit longer and not quite as well done, but shows the gender and class differences in some of the emotes.  Note in particular the movement of the robotic arm when the male character is being used to demonstrate the emotes.

All in all, these are fun little diversions to use when playing GA...

  1. Some of them copied from WoW, which is not really a bad thing :) FPS MMO, hmz, might give it a try.

  2. /search

I would like if this one is the animation the robot do when they are searching on the ground... unfortunatly it's not working :|
