Welcome to Jester's Trek.
I'm your host, Jester. I've been an EVE Online player for about six years. One of my four mains is Ripard Teg, pictured at left. Sadly, I've succumbed to "bittervet" disease, but I'm wandering the New Eden landscape (and from time to time, the MMO landscape) in search of a cure.

Variations of this fit are the standard incursion Guardian.  The trio of faction defenses make it the most expensive incursion logi there is.  On the other hand, the Guardian benefits greatly from these mods and they grant it the strongest tank of any incursion logi, too.  I find the trade-off to be very, very worth it.  This Guardian has a sig radius of 70m in the right hands.  The thumbtack-sized sig radius combined with the 80% average resistances make it extremely tough to hurt, even in a mom site.

Pilots wishing to pimp this fitting even further have a couple of options: first, a faction tracking link (or two!) make excellent choices for the Guardian's two mid slots.  Alternately, a pair of Remote Sensor Boosters can be used there in battleship-heavy fleets.  Second, if you have some serious ISK to spend, buy an A-Type dead-space Adaptive Nano Plating of whatever variety you like.  Replacing the Navy EANM with this module will increase your tank slightly, but more importantly, will give you the fitting room to wedge in a Tech2 repper or two, making this Guardian even more formidable on the field.

EDIT (12/Feb/07): Crucible brought with it an updated Oneiros with an additional low slot, a removed mid slot, and other changes.  As a result, the Oneiros fit I recommend for incursions has also changed.

This Oneiros can out-rep the typical incursion Guardian, and it provides significant benefit to a Vanguard fleet in the form of a bonused Tracking Link.  The close-to-ideal Oneiros shown here is fairly expensive, but a starter Oneiros using two Tech2 EANMs and a standard Tech2 Armor Explosive Hardener is surprisingly affordable!  Still, if you're serious about using the Oni in tougher sites, you'll want to upgrade to the much superior dead-space and faction hardeners.  And a 1600 plate is simply no longer an option, but a requirement.  Unlike its pre-Crucible variant, this larger plate allows the Oni to successfully tank most or all types of incursion sites with a good pilot aboard.

The A-Type Adaptive Nano Plating is another (expensive) option for increasing resistances slightly over the dual EANM option, or you can mix and match.  Go for the dead-space explosive hardener first, though.  You can even consider an A-Type version of this module of you have the means.  The Oneiros is at the most risk from Tama bombers and the extra explosive resist provided by the upgrade will help.

At Logistics V, this ship should be cap-stable.  You can, of course, downgrade to meta reppers, Tech1 drones, or non-faction, non-dead-space defenses if you wish.  This is simply a somewhat idealized version.  As many Tech2 reps as you can fit and still remain cap-stable is the ideal, though: this is a bit part of what gives the Oni the edge over the Guardian.

Replacing the Tech1 Ancillary Current Router with a Tech2 version will give you just enough grid to wedge in an afterburner in place of the Tracking Link.  However, you will no longer be cap-stable with all four reppers running.  You'll either have to sacrifice a bit of tank for a Cap Power Relay, or simply moderate your use of the AB and/or the fourth repper for when it's truly needed.

A lot of Vanguard fleets use an Oneiros paired with a Guardian or battleship to provide a medium or large energy transfer to the Oneiros.  When this is done, the Oni can drop all of its Cap Rechargers in favor of four Tracking Links.  This makes the Oni the ultimate Vangard support ship, particularly for NCOs!

  1. Can you post a screen-shot of your Logistics screen layout? Keep up the excellent work. Paul

  2. Any chance you might be writing a "Logistics Piloting" guide? :)

  3. There's one for incursions here:

Or do you mean one for PvP?

  4. Jester, first off keep'em coming dude, I love this blog. I was looking at getting into Incursions to fund my RvB and had a couple of questions. How often do the public fleets go into lowsec and really make some cash, how frequent are armor fleets, and what are my chances of getting into a fleet with a lvl V logistics scimi/onerios? Also, since Crucible hit I tried to update the onerios and was looking for feedback:

    2. As to your other questions, the public incursion channels no longer go into low-sec, but there are several semi-private channels that do. The only way to get invitations to these channels, though, is either to know someone or to impress someone during a fleet.

Your chances of getting into fleet with a logi are usually pretty good, particularly with a well-fit Oneiros in an armor fleet. Scimis are actually getting a bit tougher.
