Welcome to Jester's Trek.
I'm your host, Jester. I've been an EVE Online player for about six years. One of my four mains is Ripard Teg, pictured at left. Sadly, I've succumbed to "bittervet" disease, but I'm wandering the New Eden landscape (and from time to time, the MMO landscape) in search of a cure.
You can follow along, if you want...

Travel Advisory: Jita

Just a quickie.

Remember, kids: Goons are going to be doing their level best to make Jita impassable this weekend.  Yep, Burn Jita 2.0 is here!  Last time they did this, a few Goons and their allies blew their wads a little early and started ganking things several hours before the event was scheduled to start.  That said, there were also a goodly number of shiny things trying to slip into Jita before the event started, so I guess that was only fair.  ;-)

In any case, this weekend would be a good one to go ahead and avoid Jita and we'll see how things go when it's all over.  Here's last year's butcher's bill for comparison.

For those who forgot that was this weekend, you're welcome.  For those who were hoping I forgot, phbbbbbbt.

  2. Griefer of Griefers?April 18, 2013 at 1:39 AM

I was thinking about this the other day and was pondering on how to grief the griefers. I don't know much about the mechanics of high-sec ganking, but I was thinking about doing this...

    * Create a new trial alt.
    * Put his med clone in Jita.
    * Fly noob ship to wherever Goons are camping / ganking.
    * Shoot one of them, causing concord to arrive.
    * Goons get annoyed because concord is already there and means their ganks may fail.
    * Repeat many many times.

Would this be an effective way of upsetting their ganking rhythm?

    1. Not in the least. Concord was basically constantly on field last year with basically no deterrence to the ganks. Also, you med clone will wake up out of system most likely due to node population.

    2. untrue, the med clones will always pop up in same place: That was the only way I was able to sneak around the cap limit of the battle of Caldari Prime

  3. Yawn.

Just another attempt by Mittens to distract the bored Goon membership, ever growing numbers of which are pushing for the next big null war to start now.

As if I really need more freighter and carebear KMs.... :P

  5. I'm pretty sure there will be another burn jita. But do you have a source next to the one linked?
    Posting details: "By mr0ts | Apr 1st 2013 6:48AM"

So April the 1. isn't the spot for serious announcements but could be used to hide something inside it.

Any further Information would be nice but if it really is this WE we will know it pretty soon as traffic advisory will kick in soon and the kill mails will flood the systems.

    1. Here it is on TMC:

TMC published one joke article and several serious articles on April 1. I took this announcement as something that was sent to the Goons on March 31.

    1. Or even better: Announce at april first, that Jita will Burn at the weekend around the 20th april. Do not let it happen, then, when everybody has his guard down, burn jita on the next weekend, which is although the weekend of the fanfest.

That sounds like a good plan to me.

  8. I'm a Goon and the chatter on Comms is that Many won't be participating because...meh.

We're all looking for some real content or a genuine challenge, most of us see this simply as busywork to keep us distracted.

I'm sure there will be kills a plenty and many tears and I wish my brethren well.

    1. Of course it's busy-work to keep Goons distracted. But how does that make it any less amusing? ;-) Interesting to hear this perspective if true, though.

    2. I guess jester its because we all have a serious case of "Been there, done that"...This reminds me more of a typical boss that calls for sweeping the floors just because its something to do.

    4. Anon0827 is spanking right. It was fun the first time, but not as many of us are interested in doing it a second time, nor making it an annual event.

Mittens only expects this event to help keep the noob Goons occupied, since they have been complaining more and more about the lack of war in null. That has pretty much been the whole point about harassing high sec carebears, anyways.

  9. So are you saying that you believe there were people out there hoping you would forget? That is your statement and belief?

Based on last year, I would have taken the opposite point of view, as half the fun for many of the participants seemed to be the wailing and gnashing of teeth and complaints to CCP in the run up to the whole thing.

You forgetting doesn't enhance any of that.

    1. Sure it does. The first few victims were VERY surprised.

    2. And were they surprised because did you not mention Burn Jita before the last one?

If you did mention it, which you did, and people were still VERY surprised, then clearly your mentioning it did not have the impact you are claiming.

I am not saying you don't have reach, but people reading EVE blogs tend to be a small subset of the population of the game.

  10. As a non-goon i think about jumping in my Ninja-Salvaging-Magnate to steal some loot, but i havent done it before with the new crimewatch in highsec nowadays. So, if i salvage wrecks which dont belong to me, what are the consequences to me? Who will be able to shoot me, is there a timer, can i dock? :)

    Thanks for your help!

    1. If you take from a ganked wreck, it will be yellow as always. The main change is that you will be Suspect-flagged for 15 minutes and anyone will be able to shoot you, not just the wreck owner.

That doesn't prevent you from being able to dock, though. So set your safety to yellow, scoop, spam dock button should work. Most of the time. The rest of the time, thanks to TiDi, it'll take the server a few seconds to get you docked and that will be enough for an instalock destroyer to pop your Magnate. ;-)

    2. Anyone will be able to shoot you for 15 minutes. Yes, you can dock (as long as you have not agressed).

      See you there! ;)

    4. You get NO timer from SALVAGING wrecks with the new crimewatch... only if you loot

    5. Thanks for your replies guys! :) Keep up the good work with your blog man, i'm new to eve, but i put more time in the metagame than in the actual ingame-client.
